XLRI Jamshedpur Commences New Academic Session 2022-23

JAMSHEDPUR: The inauguration ceremony of the new academic year 2022-23 was conducted offline this year. The event has already become a tradition and every year it is conducted in the Tata Auditorium, XLRI Jamshedpur campus. The event was attended by all the new students, their parents, XL faculties & staff members.

Fr. Paul Fernandes S.J, Director, XLRI, Fr. Donald D’Silva S.J, Dean Administration & Finance, XLRI and Prof. AK Pani, Dean Academics, XLRI, along with other dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. In order to earnestly seek the divine blessings of God Almighty verses from the holy books were recited by XL staff members which motivated our students to lead an honest & pure life.

Prof. AK Pani (Dean Academics, XLRI) delivered the welcome address. Fr. Donald D’Silva SJ (Dean A&F, XLRI) recited the prayer after which all the students of the new academic year 2022-23 were introduced to the 70+ Professors of both the Jamshedpur & Delhi XLRI campus. Fr. Paul Fernandes S.J., Director, XLRI addressed the gathering and said, “ I welcome you all to XLRI. From today, you all are going to start a transformative journey. Let’s together pray for truth & wisdom. Truth comes as a light. Light a lamp within you and aim for excellence. XLRI is a passion and you have made the right choice for yourself by being a part of this journey. Let’s try our best to bring oneness among ourselves.”

A total of 555 new students have joined the XLRI student fraternity.
16 students enrolled for the new LSCM programme that is in collaboration with Rutgers Business School, USA. Apart from this, 15 students enrolled in the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and 20 students enrolled in the Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EXEC-FPM). And following is the breakdown of the other courses.

“XLRI, as an institution, has always taken special care to maintain diversity in the classroom by selecting a very diversified group of students in terms of gender, educational background, economic background, professional background, and region. We have always stressed upon the gender ratio. Some of the first women to study management in India are from XLRI. XLRI, being a Jesuit institution with strong values, not only pays great respect to women but also makes them feel secure & empowered”, says an official from XLRI.

The academic inaugural event was then followed by an ice-breaking event where all the students had participated and several games/activities were conducted. This two hour event was a complete refreshment and made all the students interact comfortably with each other.

The new students were then taken through a Special Orientation Programme drawn up by XLRI to update their knowledge before regular classes commenced.
