Tata Steel inaugurates upgraded Dormitory facility at JRD Tata Sports Complex

Jamshedpur, April 7, 2023: Tata Steel’s Sports Department inaugurated the upgraded Dormitory facility at JRD Tata Sports Complex today. Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The upgraded dormitory facility has a total of 17 dormitory rooms having bed, mattress and air-conditioning system. These dormitories have capacities to accommodate 10 individuals per dormitory. Large and spacious Dining Hall (300 Sqm) having capacity of 80 persons has also be upgraded along with modified kitchen facility of area (100 Sqm) with separate Dry & Wet storage area ,Cooking area & Washing area. These dormitories will have separate washroom for both males and females.

Every year, Sports Department and Tata Steel Adventure Foundation organises more than 150 sporting events at JRD Tata Sports Complex. The events are of international/ national/ state or district level championships level. A lot of outstation participants come to attend these competitions. These upgraded dormitories will help us to cater to around 150 participants within the sports complex. The upgraded dining and kitchen facility will also enable us to provide nutritious meals to all the athletes all inside the premises. Apart from this, the Sports Department will use the facility to organise Inter Department/ Inter JDC/ Inter Company and Steel Plant Steel Board events throughout the year.

Recently, Tata Steel upgraded the Tata Steel Badminton Training Centre, Basketball court, Tennis court and sport climbing training facility. The moto is to bring in more national and international events to Jamshedpur for a holistic development of sports in the city. The residential accommodation within the complex will help Sports Department to provide a better experience to all the attendees and also saves travel time from hotel to playing area.
