Jamshedpur: On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, a single Dahi Handi Matki Phoad competition was organized in the three-day Shri Krishna Janmashtami Festival today. The competition was organized for both men’s and women’s categories. About 78 male participants and 23 female participants took part in Matki Phod.
The competition was completed under the supervision of Dinesh Kumar, Bhupinder Singh, Mithlesh Singh Yadav, Rakesh Singh and Amarjit Singh Raja of the organizing committee. The time of two minutes was fixed by the organizing committee for the participants to break the pot by blindfolding and were given a chance to strike three times with the stick. In the men’s section, the minimum time was 10 seconds by Nirmal Gop of Baridih and in the women’s section, the matki was broken by Sweta Singh in just 16 seconds. The participants were given prize money of 3000, 2000 and 1000 respectively as first, second and third prize.
To increase the enthusiasm of the participants, former Chief Minister and patron of the temple committee, Shri Raghuvar Das was present and himself also participated in this competition. The audience who came, thoroughly enjoyed the handi burst competition and the temple committee praised the event.

In the men’s category, the following secured the position respectively:-
